Acceptable use

Prohibited

• Harassment, stalking or targeted intimidation of any person.
• Doxxing: identifying, locating or exposing the real-world identity of an account holder.
• Deanonymizing Reddit users, including by correlating accounts with people or with accounts on other services.
• Credential theft, or any attempt to access accounts, private messages or private subreddits.
• Discriminatory targeting or profiling on the basis of protected characteristics.
• Unlawful surveillance, or surveillance of individuals on behalf of a third party.
• Threats of violence or harm.
• Circumventing archive rate limits, including by proxying or distributing requests.

Why some of this is unenforceable, and stated anyway

Subdex has no accounts, so there is no login to suspend. The software runs in your browser and we cannot see what you do with it. This policy is therefore a statement of intended use rather than a mechanism, and the real constraints are the ones built into the product: the features that would enable these uses do not exist.

Respecting the archives

The archive providers are free services under no obligation to serve anyone. Excessive automated use degrades them for everyone, including the researchers they were built for. Subdex throttles itself deliberately; do not attempt to work around that. For bulk work, use the providers’ published data dumps instead of their APIs.
